Now with Updates!

Hi there y'all!  Now I can send in updates by email - so we should be seeing them more often right?  I hope so!

Baby T - man he's growing so fast!  He's so big and everyday learning new things.  It's amazing to watch him put things in his mouth, look for people, recognize people he knows, find new things to see on his exerasaucer!  He even sat UNASSISTED yesterday for a few minutes!

Son - he's growing like a weed too!  All his winter clothes are way too small...I saw him kicking around the soccer ball yesterday and he IS a soccer master!  He's amazing at it - esp. considering he's only had TWO classes and is only 4 years old.  He's got dribbling (do they call it that?) down pat, as well as evasive manuvers in case someone's trying to take the ball way.  SO cool to watch!
Test blog entry from email!

Congratulations!

To Sara on her newest little addition...

And to Bugs on hers!

All these babies, oh my!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you! We are recovering from a traveling weekend - and having to work today means little time for blogging...more later, I promise!

April 14, 2006

My gosh!

We were SO BUSY last week I totally forgot to post!!! SORRY about that!

Congrats to Girl and Erika on the birth of their absolutely adorable little ones!!!!!!!

April 07, 2006

Oh dear lord...

all the kids that Son was playing with yesterday have CROUP today. CROUP. Pray for us... I hope we don't get it - esp. Baby T.

SHOES!

YIPEE! I had a pair of sandals in my shopping cart for zappos.com for a week now. I decided to buy them today and BOOM, they're sold out. Boo hoo. After much intense searching, I found them at another website and just bought them already. I don't want to lose out again!

They are the Born Farlow sandals and they are SO COOL I can't stand it! (BTW, did I ever tell you I LOVE sandals!). I got a pedicure last weekend and even though it SNOWED this morning briefly, I wore sandals so as not to rub the whites off my french manicure. No tomboy in me, that's for sure!

April 04, 2006

oddly enough, still busy...

My schedule was 8 am to 6 pm for work, but that was getting me home so late, hubby and I switched this week, to 6 am - 4 pm. Which means I get up at 4:30 am and BUST ASS to get to work by 5:40 am or so. BUT I get to pick up the kids and get some more time w/them each day, so it's great. Loving it.

The things I see at work have me laughing all the time. There was a guy delivering machines around to people today, and one fell off his cart. HUGE sound when it fell - he didn't even notice. Some guy going the other way in the hall stopped him and pointed it out. Ten bucks says there is a user somewhere trying to figure out why his computer doesn't work!

I also love the "fashions" that one sees in a building mixed w/people of different levels and positions. Today's lovely was a TEAL long-sleeved t-shirt dress with a red flannel shirt UNDERNEATH and red clogs. Very classy look, if you're going for farmers wife.

Stayed tuned tomorrow for an update on the weirdly dressed.

I don't think so pal!

Scene - my house. Lazy Saturday afternoon. ALL THREE boys are sleeping (includes hubby!)...While piddling in Baby T's room, I hear a truck. I look out the window and see one of those trucks that sells furniture out of the back parked on our street, in front of my house and see the driver headed to MY DOORBELL to see if we want to check it out.

Not only do I NOT want to buy any of his crappy, no name furniture, if he rings that doorbell I'm going to have his head. I RACE through the house and rip the door open just as his finger reaches out for the doorbell.

"No thanks - my entire family is sleeping." And shut the door. They are JUST as annoying as telemarketers - what gives him the right to interupt my Saturday at home???

March 31, 2006

And yet, busier...

Ugh. So much to do. At work, I am the only UI developer. So I have to write the entire client. Which is due for DELIVERY on May 31. Which means off to test maybe by May 15? So, I have a bit of work to do! Thank goodness the ONE server developer we have is great and does the design to help make my life easier!

Baby T starts cereal tomorrow! I cannot believe he's that old, but lo and behold, 15 weeks tomorrow! The DR said 16 weeks, but who's counting!

Girl, Sara and Erika STILL haven't had their babies - here's hoping for a productive weekend for them!

Son started soccer this week. Even though he's the youngest in the class, he's apparently already the soccer master! (no, I'm not a wee bit overly proud!)

March 28, 2006

Overly Busy...

Yikes....

  • Work is crazy. We deploy MAY 31 and the entire client is being coded by ME. And we have nothing so far. Yikes!
  • Hubby and Son have been fighting colds for a week now.
  • Baby T got the cold with a VENGENCE last night. Apparently he is too little for decongestant. We had to do nasal saline drops and nose sucking. Yuk. He didn't like it either, judging from the FIT he threw. I'm not suprised to see that he didn't like it AND that he's got quite the temper.
  • Tonight, we did a steam shower and a warm mist vaporizer in his room. Let's hope it goes better!
  • Surprisingly, I'm tired and have had NO TIME to work out. This sucks. Next week, hubby and I are going to try an alternate schedule to see if it doesn't suck a bit less.

    Over and out.
  • March 26, 2006

    Roll On Baby!

And Baby T has discovered the joys of rolling over! He can roll from his back onto his belly on either the right or left side! Way to go Baby T!

Also - I left him Saturday to entertain himself in the bouncy seat - when I returned, he was a FOUNTAIN (A FOUTAIN I TELL YOU) of vomit! It was STILL coming out and he had the hugest grin on his face, like "Mommy, look at my trick!". It would have been funny if we weren't on our way to a surprise party where it is sort of important to be on time. AND when I went to throw him in the shower with Dad, I discovered a massive poop too! Ah, the lives of parents of young children! Never a dull moment!

    March 24, 2006

    Swiffer Duster!

Oh man! Have I been wasting time vacuuming baseboards, lampshades, doors and chair rail! I bought this today as I am facing a severe shortage of cleaning time... and got the WHOLE HOUSE done in just about 1/2 an hour (in short spurts) as opposed to dragging the vaccuum around and the duster reaches behind and under things much better! I LOVE it and highly suggest it!

Also purchased - size 3 nipples! Baby T had a 6.5 ounce bottle in 20 minutes! Go Baby T!

    AND

Our Bumbo seats came today! LOVE THESE. Baby T loves the new position and it keeps him occupied for a while - and he can see what we're doing better! I highly HIGHLY recommend them for once the babies get their head control (somewhere between 2.5 months and 3 months!).

    March 21, 2006

    A List (because I'm Tired)

  • Work is progressing.
  • I LOVE working in the same building as hubby!
  • Why did Baby T sleep thru the night ALL LAST WEEK and not once today?
  • My mom witnessed her first reflux attack while watching Baby T today.
  • Baby T has almost rolled over. As soon as you lay him down, he rolls onto his side to continue trying to get all the way over.
  • Son starts soccer next Wednesday. Is he already old enough for organized sports? Apparently.
  • Go Erika and Girl! They'll be having their babies soon enough!!!!
  • I got a coupon for 25% off at the COACH store! Yipee!!!!!
  • I seriously need a pedicure.
  • and some sleep.
  • and a couple more hours in the day to get things done.
  • and time to work out.
  • I have lost TWO MORE POUNDS by going back on my PCOS medication! AND I haven't worked out since Sunday!
  • My work pants are getting seriously too big - but they have to last until it's warm enough for spring clothes - should I eat MORE??!!
  • March 20, 2006

    Work..

The new job should be great - my new boss, turns out to be an old boss of mine from years ago! I never ran across his last name in our chats w/my contracting boss and he never ran across mine, so that was a pleasant experience today.

BUT 2 developers (out of 3!) quit today. They are young guys and got HUGE offers from smaller contracting companies so we'll see. Hopefully I don't get dumped on!

And my contracting boss is a gem. Love her lots.

Gotta run though - the house today, after Dad and two boys alone in it all day, is a MESS.

    March 19, 2006

Sun Won't Come Out Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is my first day back at work. :-( I am SO dreading this. Yes, being home w/the kids is exhausting. And can be a lot of work, and hard to juggle the needs of a 4 year old and a 3 month old. And often times, I need TWO showers a day. BUT that is the best job I've ever had. I love it. And taking care of my boys. And being the one they have to run too all day.

So tomorrow is the end of my maternity leave and it sucks. Luckily, I only have 4 day work weeks, but still. That's 4 days more a week than I was spending away from my boys! The idea that for 10 hours tomorrow, I have to go be with STRANGERS (I'm starting on a new contract) rather than my kids, is killing me.

    March 17, 2006

    Sleeping!

Baby T has been asleep for 9 hours and 1 minute as I sit here and type and wait for him! It's 6:50 am and I am stunned! AND he only had 2 ounces before bed last night, so I was SURE he was going to get up around 3 am! So fantastic!

I just ordered 2 of these (one for my mom's house)...

Will let you know how it works out.

3 months old is TOO YOUNG for the exersaucer though, just FYI. I did try it yesterday and it didn't work.

    March 16, 2006

    Weekly Laundry...

Here's what I do in laundry...

  • 1 load darks for Son
  • 1 load sheets/towels for Son
  • 1 load underwear for Son
  • 1 load underwear for adults
  • 1 load darks for adults
  • 1 load lights for adults
  • 1 load sheets/towels for adults
  • 1 load lights for Baby T
  • 1 load darks for Baby T
  • 2 loads towels/spitup rags/etc for Baby T
  • 1 load dishtowels

That is a good week. Many weeks include an extra load of undies for Son or an extra load of darks for adults (if Baby T spits up on us A LOT that week).

So I am pretty much always spinning something in the washer!

    And this week, add

  • 3 loads of ski outerwear from last week

    Loving Fisher-Price!

We bought this for Baby T in January and didn't put the toy bar on until he was 2 months old: he loves this VERY MUCH, btw

    Ocean Wonders Bouncy seat

Well, a week after putting the toy bar on, when it blows the bubbles, it makes this HORRIBLE noise. SO LOUDLY.

I just called Fisher Price and they are sending a new toy bar! Yay for good customer service!!!

We rented this seat while in Beaver Creek, CO, and he LOVED it as well. The only issue is that it is smaller than the Ocean Wonders one and when he gets taller, he'll outgrow it faster, but man did he love that little bird!

    Flutterbye Bouncy Seat!

Because he loved that bouncy seat so much, but it is too small to justify buying, we bought this Monday... (Flutterbye Deluxe Soft Gym)

And, of course, he loves this too. (that is NOT BabyT in the picture! That is Amazon's picture)

    March 14, 2006

    Working Sucks!

I had to go into my new job today to do some stuff to get ready for next week (there is something that can only be done on Tuesdays - if I waited until next week, I couldn't do the "thing" until Tuesday and not start work until Wednesday. Since they want me to start on Monday, I had to do the "thing" this Tuesday).

MAN does hauling 2 kids to my Mom's house early in the morning SUCK. It is depressing and I hate it already. Next week is REALLY GOING TO SUCK.

That is all. Tomorrow I will be spending another glorious day with just my two favorite little boys!

    March 13, 2006

    And...

We're Home! Man, what a trip to get here! Our flight was delayed for TWO HOURS!

My husband is a tall guy. And well built. So on a plane, his knees literally have to be tucked in behind the seat in front of him. And it is quite uncomfortable for him if the person in front of him puts his seat back on most planes. Well, this one was really bad. The guy in front of him reclined his seat into hubby's knees. When the guy didn't get what he felt was the full recline, he kept trying to jam it back (I could see from across the aisle that he WAS fully reclined, BTW). Hubby pointed out that the continued rammning would do no good because his seat hwas now resting on his knees, the guy kept doing it for THREE HOURS. AND hubby was holding Baby T (his arms are more comfy for sleeping than mine, go figure). Nice huh? I wanted to get up and smack him. Even the stewardesses noticed, because they were quite rude to him (at the end of the flight, one stewardess put his seat up for him, while he was sleeping!)

Anyway, it's so great to be home! After having 2 kids in a hotel room all week, simply being home feels like a great luxury!

    March 11, 2006

    Ugh! A new diagnosis...

Ok... about once a week or so, BabyT would throw up at least an entire feeding, or what looked like 2 feedings. Really gross. Generally we'd attribute it to not getting that last burp out, or moving him around too much after eating...Well.

Since we've been in Colorado, he's had a LARGE, force-full throw up once a day. And boy is that fun when you're traveling, with limited change of clothes, and trying to not make a mess in a super fancy hotel room! So I called the pediatrician last night and she said he sounds like classic silent reflux. It doesn't bother him at all, but the food comes up very easily. Great. And my gut is telling me also that the altitude is making it worse, which is why we're up to throwing up once a day instead of once a week. Please join me in praying that once we get back to a non-high-altitude area, he gets better. Please, please, please. Having a child that throws up at the drop of a hat is an enormous amount of work and stress.

Other than that, traveling w/a 12 week old is fine. Actually much easier than I thought it would be -except for having to wash bottles ALL THE TIME because I didn't bring enough and trying to keep bottled water handy for mixing formula!

And the renting of baby accessories (bouncy seat, stroller) was a GREAT idea. I don't know what we'd have done w/out the bouncy seat, which he LOVED (it's the Fisher price Flutter & Chime I think, we have Ocean Wonders, and he loves the rented one just as much!)

    CTTS

    or Cute Things They Say...

    at dinner last night...

  • My son, when L got a glass of wine --> "L! Who drank out of your glass? It's already half gone!" when he saw that they only gave the wine glasses half full.
  • After falling asleep on the bench before dinner came and being carried home, where he woke up, he asked "Why did we not eat dinner? We only got drinks!"... He missed the ENTIRE meal sleeping in his seat! And this was the 4 year old! (and a $30 kids steak thrown in the trash to boot!)
  • "I'm farting on you!" as my husband SKIED DOWN THE MOUNTAIN CARRYING THE 4 YEAR OLD AND HIS SKIS!

    Stay Tuned!
  • March 06, 2006

    New Discoveries...

  • Wealth apparently can turn people into serious assholes. We have run into some people that take themselves VERY seriously and do not have any consideration for others whatsoever.
  • I like staying in posh resorts! (we are traveling w/my in-laws)
  • My son is a natural athelete!
  • Who apparently can live off of no food for many days (this is day 4 of almost no food. Go figure. I have NO IDEA why he won't eat and why he's not hungry??!!)
  • I got to workout this morning! GOOD NEWS! My knees didn't hurt! I took it easy, but I think they are healed!!!
  • The babyBjorn is a lifesaver for wandering around w/the baby. The stroller would be so cold for him, so it's nice to have the chest carrier. I turned him facing front yesterday and he LOVES it.
  • The food here is so good, I'm going to have to workout every darn day.

    more later!
  • March 04, 2006

    On a little trip...

and noticed these things on the plane...

  • the couple with 4 children. They had 4 girls, where the OLDEST one was 4 years old and the youngest was 3 1/2 months (I asked! She's MUCH smaller than Baby T, who is 2 1/2 months). The middle children appeared to be 18 months (she didn't have her own seat, so she must be younger than 2 years old) and the other one maybe 3 years old? Goodness.
  • The 4 year old girl. She wet her pants in the seat. Gross (I KNOW kids have accidents, but gross!) - so the stewardess gave her a blanket to sit on - which is EXACTLY why I never use those blankets. Yuck.
  • These people also felt it was ok to let the 2 oldest girls run around the airplane unsupervised, because they each had their hands full w/the smaller ones.
  • Some jackass w/a backpack hit me on the head w/his backpack while turning around in the aisle. Oblivious jerk. Why is it hard for people to compensate for the backpack space needed when they are wearing one? Why???
  • The lady in the seat in front of me was SO HEAVY that when she reclined her seat, she actually got it to recline like 10 inches and...seriously...her seat was IN MY LAP it was reclined so far. So that was fun.

But today? We are at the resort and it is fabulous. There is the CUTEST crib ever in the room for Baby T, and the bouncy seat and stroller we rented are so much nicer than what we expected! The bouncy seat is actually brand new. So that is also great.

Watch this space for more updates!!
  • February 28, 2006

    Various Notes...

  • Dear Baby T - It was GREAT sleeping through the night. Can we return to that schedule please?
  • My boss wants me to start work on March 13 instead of March 20. We are now in intense negotiations.
  • Lake Placid. This is a movie starring Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman, and Oliver Platt. All are stars that I thought would be WAY above a movie like this. Apparently there is a 30 foot crocodile in some lake that the townspeople wanted to call Lake Placid until they were told that name was taken. Apparently the character played by BETTY WHITE has been feeding WHOLE COWS to this croc. It also has a taste for humans, apparently, having eaten her character's husband and a local fisherman. It is a TERRIBLE movie w/TERRIBLE effects... but at 1:45 a.m. you don't get much choice...Actually I was pulled in by the awfulness of it...
  • My older son didn't get into the local preschool (we were hoping to switch to a closer one for convience sake, even though we LOVE the one he's in now).
  • Baby T is 10 weeks old. Man, what a baby! He's so smiley it's amazing. He constantly tries to sit himself up. He loves his toys!
  • Fisher-Price Sights&Sounds monitor is CRAP! We bought it when Baby T was born and just replaced it this weekend - it SUCKS. The interference on it is TERRIBLE.
  • Baby Bjorn! I just tried it this weekend and I can't BELIEVE no one told me about this miracle thing when I had my first son! How great is this thing? I love it and so does Baby T. Everyone - go buy one!

and so I'm done as I hear Baby T on the monitor is up and I have to start our morning routine to get my older son to school on-time. Bye!
  • February 25, 2006

    Well Damn...

it's time to admit it - last Friday, I ran outside around the neighborhood. 30 minutes! And today I admit, after spending $100 on new running shoes, I gave myself Runner's Knee. Damn. Nothing to do now but SIT and wait for it to go away. I am on an Advil regimin as well as icing...so we'll see.

    February 23, 2006

    2 Month Checkup

I forgot to update you guys! Baby T had his 2 month on Monday, 13 pds 11 oz! 24 3/4 inches tall, though I think the nurse didn't get all his height, she wasn't stretching him very tall.

We only did 2 of the 4 shots - we go back in March for the other 2. It just seems to me to be too much medicine for such a little body - when you dose something like Tylenol, it's about 1/2 of what the shot volume is...and it's just Tylenol - so we split up the shots.

She said he looked fabulous! And was measuring perfect for his growth curve...so yay!

AND - Last night hubby and I went out and picked out my "birthing present", with a little extra for "my wife had a baby and I left town for a month" money added to it! Thank you hubby, it is lovely and I will cherish it always.

Please drop over at Navy Blue's place. She just had her baby girl early at 25 weeks, and both are doing well so far. I continue to keep all of them in my prayers and am hoping for more updates soon.

    Love On The Rocks

This is another reality show I've found. Basically, couples in trouble have cameras installed in their home, and 2 doctors help them fix their relationship.

In the latest one, Tony and SomeChick are a couple. He is an avid mountain climber (please note that this is NOT a paying job). His "work" is construction. She is a real estate investor (read that: has money).

Their relationship is rocky since they moved in together (shocking, I know). He YELLS at her all the time. He is actually downright nasty and condescending. (if he acted that way to me, he'd be collecting his teeth on his way out the door). They fight all the time.

She wants to get married and have children. He has a college age daughter at UCLA and wants to be a tour guide in Nepal (or something similar to that, you get the idea). He would like to move to be near his daughter, as he says she is his #1 priority. She does not want to move there. She likes the house that she currently lives in (that he moved in to).

She would like an engagement ring. He says she'll get one as soon as SHE BUYS them a house near his daughter, and not one minute sooner.

They show lots and lots of footage of him being an ass and yelling.

Then the doctors bring them in for counseling. It is pretty funny - you can tell both doctors think he is a LOSER with a capital 'L' and are working hard to point that out to her without actually saying it in front of him. The lady doctor does an exercise with SomeChick to point out the differences between them, listing things like: HE wants to climb mountains, SHE works hard. He wants her to buy house, SHE wants them to buy house together. He does not want children, SHE wants children. ETC. They try and point out to him that he's being an ass and yelling. Not only volume, but what he says as well.

THEN the couple break up - she seems to realize they are not on the same 'path'. A week later, she says she misses him, but is so much better off without him.

You guessed it, three months later, they're back together. They cut to footage of him on his construction site, where he's being a smart-ass saying the DR should look deeper into the person, and that he only yells because he's so used to it from work, and if they'd paid any attention to the 'real' him, they'd know that is why he yells, not because he's an inconsiderate mooching ass or anything.

    February 15, 2006

    YAY!

1.5 pounds more gone!!! Yesterday's weigh in, 131.0 pounds! Down from 132.5 last week! THAT is why my jeans now fit (actually I tried them over weekend)...Running and strength training is really working! (I am still eating like crap: ice cream, candy, cookies, etc. --> goodness knows how much I'd lose if I stopped eating all that junk!! )

    February 13, 2006

    Two Nights!

He slept from 10 pm to 4:50 am! It would have been more, but he threw up his feeding right before he fell asleep. He did it tonight too, so we'll see....

    February 12, 2006

    And in the EIGHTH WEEK

    he rests.

Please note, at exactly 8 weeks, 0 days Baby T sleeps through the night for the first time. From 10 pm to 5:09 am. Heaven, let me tell you. Of course, I woke up at 2, 3 and 4 am checking to see if he was awake. He had some awake periods where he was making noises and talking to himself and went right back to sleep.

I can only PRAY for a repeat performance tonight. We'll see.

Also - in the eighth week, Mama discovers that her work pants are a little loose (yee haw!) and her cool Gap jeans fit again!!! Yipee kiyay! Of course, the little tops don't quite fit right yet, but we're working on it!!!!

    February 11, 2006

    The Post Office...

    they are dumb over there.

When my husband was away (for a 2 week trip that got extended to 3 weeks) he ordered some toys for our son. He paid for 2 day delivery so that son could enjoy them right away. When my husband got home, he found out no toys had been delivered (well, no toys from THAT order, all the OTHER orders he placed, they arrived on time)...

He called the toy company. They said they mailed it and confirmed the address. My husband got the tracking number - according to the USPS website, it was delivered to the wrong zip code. What? The odds that our unusual street name existed in a neighboring zip code are slim to none. Where did the package go? My husband called the main Post Office number and they gave him the local number. The local number goes to a machine that gives the main number. Nice. So he calls the main number back and explains that. They find out that the zip code it was delivered to is actually a special local zip code for State Department packages to be shipped out overseas. Lovely. BUT where the hell did OUR package go, if it went into that part of the post office? He decides to GO DOWN to our local post office to find out. He waits in line. The post office lady says she doesn't do package tracking. He explains that he doesn't need tracking, it's in this building somewhere, in a big pile probably. She says she has other customers to help. WTF? So he, that paid for 2 day shipping, is NOT a customer? He tells her to find someone else to help him. She refuses. She says he needs to use the "white courtesy" phone to call someon. He can see the guy he needs behind her 1/2 door. He tells her to just yell over to him. She refuses. He goes to get him himself - telling her that if she won't do her job, he'll do it for her.

He leaves his info w/the other guy (who WAS the right guy, btw). That night we get a phone call from a very nice employee who says, that once things go into this "State Department" black hole, they are as good as gone and we should file a claim.

The next day, the package arrives! Interestingly enough, it DID have our zip code and address on it correct. No idea where it had been for so long.

THEN yesterday's mail brought me a postcard. It was a postcard my sister-in-law filled out for a scrapbooking magazine where, on the BACK, she puts her name and address as buying a gift subscription for me, and gives my name and address. On the front is the magazine's address, the return address, and a postage stamp.

Guess where they delivered the post card? To the address, my address, on the back, even though the stamp is on the FRONT. And on the front where the stamp is, is a post office mark of which zip code it should go, listing MINE instead of the one that is 1 inch away from the mark, with the magazine's zip code.

It must be WORK to be that incompetent, no?

    Workin' Out!

Yay me! I ran on Saturday (1/2 hour of intervals!). Then went to the trainer yesterday...I was back down the 2.5 pds I had gained! Yay! So 132.5 pds for me it is! I did a HARD leg workout w/the trainer today and will run 2 more times this week, plus 2 sessions of ab work on my own. I can't wait to see what the scale says next Tuesday! (of course, a relative JUST sent us a Valentine's set from Cheryl&Co, which is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. I don't know how they get packaged cookies to taste better than homemade from scratch, but they are some DAMN good cookies!

    Thank heavens!

Baby T returned to only getting up twice last night. I put him down at 10:30 pm and he got up at 1:50 and 5:45. Then for good at 8:45. So that was VERY NICE.

Today has been HECTIC! I was feeding Baby T and he threw up what looked like his 9 a.m. feeding (we were almost done) and his 5:45 am bottle all over me (I used myself to shield my new family room chairs!). So then it was 2 bottles worth of time re-feeding him all that food. THEN I'm trying to get the last of the house picked up so the cleaning lady can clean, Baby T decides today is a GREAT day to test not having any morning naps (he usually takes 2 or 3!). Then I notice that Son hasn't picked up his room and now I have to do it (no time to spend supervising him doing it)... Of course, Son would like breakfast at somepoint as well... I start to make fried toast for him, the bread is moldy. I talk him into yogurt instead, it is expired. Finally, I get him to eat some turkey bacon and cereal bars. Nice choices there, huh? Next thing I know, it's lunch time and we have to do the whole "what does Son want to eat that I actually have in the house?" routine again. Whew.

FINALLY Baby T is down for a nap, but the cleaning lady is still here so I can't hop in the shower!

Oh.. the training session went GREAT yesterday, except I weighed myself. Since hubby has been home, I GAINED two pounds. So we're back to 135. Oh well. I'm trying to talk myself into a run later this afternoon. We'll see.

    February 02, 2006

    Egads Boy!

Baby T wanted to eat last night at 11:30, 12:45, 2:50, 3:30, 4:50 and 6:30. I would be understanding and thinking this was a growth spurt...but he ate ONE OUNCE at each feeding. Let me tell you, it really sucks putting him down after eating ONE OUNCE because you KNOW that he's getting right-the-f back up in about an hour (OR LESS)... we tried EVERYTHING to wake him to finish the feeding...and nothing worked...changing diapers, laying down and picking him right back up, tickling feet, tickling hands, chin, etc. NOTHING would work, he was SO TIRED. So we'll see what tonight shall bring (it better be our regular schedule of only TWO wake-ups between 9 pm and 6 am!!)...

    Proud Mama...

    :-)

Today I had a parent-teacher conference with my son's teacher. It went very well!

Academically, he's doing excellent. He knows all his letters, numbers, can write his name without help, understands how numbers correlate to the actual # of objects, etc. He is in the three-year old class because of his late birthday (he's 4, turned in December) - and said he's more advanced than most of her 4 year old class (they don't all know their letters, etc. Most cannot write their name without help). He does very well at story time, and can repeat the story back to the teacher and answer questions about what happened in the story. He scored outstanding on sharing, listening, following instructions, etc.

She said he was very mature for his age, and a total joy (of course, I already knew all of this). Her daughter saw his picture and thought he was the cutest! Then when she came to the class to help out, she was taken in by his great personality and charm! :-)

    Sunday Listing...

  • FINALLY got all the Christmas decorations re-organized and put back in the basement. I was SO TIRED of looking at them...
  • Cleaned out the laundry room.
  • Packed away ALL the newborn clothes.
  • Washed and put away all the 3-6 month clothes, some of which already look a wee small. I remember when my son was that size, how we thought we had too many clothes for him. Now with Baby T, he has all of son's old clothes + new ones other people bought him and it truly is excessive. The child has 10 pairs of jeans, 10 overalls, 4 JACKETS (like he's going outside to play!), 3 buntings, but only 2 pair of socks that stay on!
  • I worked out yesterday!
  • I'm going running tomorrow! For the first time since October of 2004!
  • First workout with trainer at 1:30 pm Tuesday!

    AND THE BIG ONE...
Baby T started really cooing at us today!!!! It's great to hear him trying out his voice for something other than screaming for food or yelling at us (!) when we stop the feeding for a burp. Baby T is ALL ABOUT his food.

    Friday Update...

Saw this last night The Pasta Express. Please. Even I can boil water and make pasta - is this gadget really, really necessary??!! They say one of the big advantages is that you don't have to break the spaghetti noodles in half - is this a big problem?

Also - I LOVE MY WASHING MACHINE. When my first son was born, my MotherInLaw broke my washer - so we bought the Kenmore HE3T front loading machine. I LOVE IT. Last night, Baby T pooped. So I was changing him and took the old diaper off and he was laying on his outfit and the changing pad when he POOPED SOME MORE. And got that dark brown/green baby poop all over his NEW white baby outfit (a gift) and the changing pad cover. UGH. THEN I rubbed it in really good trying to wipe it all off. So I poured Dreft right on the stains and threw them in my wshing machine. Checked them this morning, not even one hint of a stain! How fabulous!! I have said, not one item of our clothing has stains on it, no matter what the stain. I've gotten out ground in mud, blood, poop, vomit, red juice, carrot juice, ketchup, BBQ sauce, etc. Next time you need a washer, I highly recommend it. Also, it is SO GENTLE on clothes because of the way they designed the drum. Our clothes never look old by the time we're done wearing them (either because they are out of style or outgrown)... Oh, I remmeber, the deck stain my hubby got on his shirt didn't come out. That's one stain. :-)

    Personal Trainer...

I had my appt w/a personal trainer yesterday - I've LOST TWO MORE POUNDS! Yay!

I officially start training with her on Tuesday. I cannot wait! To get my body back, after all this time! I haven't worked out since I changed jobs last OCTOBER and didn't want to get a new gym membership because we were trying to get pregnant.

Apparently, after going thru her tests, I am still in pretty good shape. My resting heart rate is low (59) and it takes a lot to bring it up, but when I stop it goes right back down (which is another indicator that you're in shape)... my strength is low, but that is no surprise and my abs are all shot-to-shit (duh!).

So - here are my starting facts:
    Weight: 133 pds
Body fat: 27.5% (YIKES!) --> after I freaked about that number because for me that is AMAZINGLY HIGH, she reminded me I just had a baby and hadn't worked out in OVER a year.
Goal: 120 pds (which may or may not be possible, this is my end-of-college weight)

So - here we go! Wish me luck!

    January 24, 2006

    One Month Checkup

I took Baby T for his 1 month checkup today. He's doing GREAT according to the DR.

97th percentile for height and 90th for weight.
    Height: 24 inches
    Weight: 11 pds 12 oz

He got a shot - where he screamed and cried like a madman. This is odd to me (and unexpected and QUITE unnerving, to hear your child cry like that), as my older son has NEVER cried at a shot - he would just grunt and give the nurse a dirty look, like "Hey, what the HELL do you think you're doing??!!".

She said he should continue eating like crazy until about 8 weeks, when it'll taper off a bit. And as long as he's not spitting up, feed him as much as he wants. Also, maybe all his mucous-y sounds are "silent-reflux"

    He's HOME!

YAY! Hubby got home last night! And because he was still on the other time, couldn't sleep, so HE got up w/Baby T last night so I could sleep! Man do I feel great today! BUT three weeks of laundry - some of the STINKIEST I have ever smelled - I'm working on load #2 right now.

Then he took Son to preschool, leaving me and Baby T alone for quite a few hours! I do not know how I found this to be a lot of work when I was home on leave w/my first son - having only a newborn seems so easy compared to being home w/a newborn and a 4 year old! Cake I tell you! I managed to clean up from breakfast, do laundry, feed the baby, have a shower, give the baby a bath, drag up the rest of the infant toys from the basement...

I registered at Similac.com for more formula coupons and got quite frustrated - they require a strong password than my work network! A capital letter, a lowercase letter, and a number. Jeesh - heaven forbid someone hack into my Similac account and do what? Change Baby T's birthdate? Add more kids? WHAT could be so dangerous?

    January 23, 2006

    After 18 days...

Hubby returns home today!! I could not be more excited about this! And so could son, who is missing his Daddy terribly.

I am very tired. For some reason, Baby T wanted to play last night between 3 and 4 (after EATING from 2 - 3 a.m.)... he doesn't ever do this, so I have no idea why or what to make sure I do / don't do today to prevent a repeat (though I AM NOT THE ONE getting up with him tonight!!! :-)

I saw a new informercial last night - it's this piece of exercise equipment - it's a large pole (maybe 6 feet?) with a big spade shaped fan head on each side. So you wave it around and the wind resistance is your exercise. It looks ridiculous. I will try and find a link - they had the website listed, but I can't remember it now in the light of day!

Here is a link to the heating belt I wrote about before, where it makes your belly sweat off the weight... Velform Sauna Belt

    January 21, 2006

    My how we change...

Baby T is 5 weeks old today!!!

Here are his changes so far...
  • Newborn clothes are too small (they've been too small for weeks now)
  • Instead of pooping every time he eats, it's slowed down to like 2 a day (this is MUCH nicer even though the poops are bigger, it's only 2 times a day instead of, like EIGHT!)
  • Feedings can go up to 8 ounces!
  • Awake periods during the day are appearing and getting longer.
  • Neck strength is improving.
  • HE CAN SMILE IN RESPONSE TO ME!
  • He's too big for the newborn liner in the carseat.
  • We upgraded today to the next size bottle nipples! This makes feedings faster!

I wish I could add sleeping better, but he still gets up twice a night, 2 hours after falling asleep - he refuses to miss a feeding simply because it's nighttime. This is odd to us, as my older son refused to miss sleep simply to eat! By 5 weeks, he was down to 1 nighttime feeding, which is MUCH more manageable.

    Walmart...

Am I the only person on the planet to pay for music? I downloaded Walmart's music thingy and get songs for 88 cents! I love it! I've only downloaded like 5 so far, but I'm wanting more, more, more!

Celebrity Fit Club?! Anyone watch this trainwreck (I know I'm probably the only one up at all hours watching tv!)..but Kelly LeBrock, the hot chick from Weird Science, is on it and man is she large! She looks like a thin person in one of those fat suits, she just looks so bloated. She claims she got that way on PURPOSE to scare off men. Sure. That's why I had a baby - men hate that belly flab! Also, the stud guy from Grease, Kineki? The one that slept w/Rizzo? He's on it... he was BOMBED out of his mind and blamed it on cold medicine. Sure...maybe he'll send me some next time I have a cold?

That's all I got right now - sneaking off to bed and praying for Baby T to sleep well (he gets up twice a night, which isn't bad, but I'd like more hours between the 2 risings... - wish me luck!)

    January 17, 2006

    Today's Update...

    It's Tuesday...

So we had to rush out the door this morning (hahaha --> rush? With a 4 year old and a newborn? THAT IS FUNNY). Then to my mom's to wait for preschool to be over, where I got an unhurried shower and she made me lunch.

THEN I went to THREE grocery stores looking for formula. Apparently there is either a run on Similac Advance Formula (the store by my house and the Target are OUT of it) or there are so many babies in the 20 mile radius of my house they are always on the verge of out-of-stock? The first store only had 3 bottles, which was not enough to last me until hubby returns. So to another store...they had 0. Then the last store had 7, which will bring me to a few hours after hubby returns. PHEW! I narrowly avoided having to run to the store again w/both boys... a near miss!

THEN my post-D&C appt. Where the nurse was TOTALLY confused about my status - postpartum or post d&C...I said "yes, both" - apparently she had no idea you could be both... But, the DR said I looked great and approved me to
  • hot tub! We got a new one when we moved in here Oct. 2004, but we were trying to get pregnant so hubby couldn't go in. Then I got pregnant (three times!) which kept me out... So whenever hubby returns and cleans it up, we're in!
  • take baths!
  • have sex! Be careful about getting pregnant the dr said. hahahahaha
  • EXERCISE! Cannot wait on this one! So I'm planning for a nice hard walk the day after hubby returns! I cannot wait!
  • January 15, 2006

    Ooops - I forgot!

The baby is fine...He has a small tear which is bleeding a little at the end of the day because he poops SO MUCH. But he is fine and it isn't bothering him, just me.

ALSO - He weighs 11 pds. 4 oz at just a day or two under 4 weeks! What a heavy little dude! Of course, we were supposed to bring him in at 2 weeks and schedule a 4 weeks, which the parent that took him to his 2 day appt didn't tell me, so I scheduled a 4 week appt. for next week.

Unfortunately, hubby has been out of town for a long time. And he just got held over for another week. UGH. I could really use him here at home and for one of the nighttime feedings. He sent the most beautiful rose bouquet yesterday because he felt so bad. It sucks, the delay is totally out of his control and he feels awful. Oh well...nothing I can do about it. Just have to work on keeping the 2 kids alive and happy for another week.

    January 12, 2006

    Misc.

  • I weighed myself today - only 7 pounds more to lose!!! YAY ME!
  • I wrote my mom a check to cash from her retirement account. When she went to the bank to cash it, they didn't want to cash it because there wasn't some high amount in her account there... I only kept her acct w/that bank so she'd have the convience of cashing checks there. I don't understand their logic - she's CASHING A CHECK, not withdrawing money from an acct that doesn't have sufficient funds? WTF?
  • Picking Son up from preschool is a pain. The lines are SO LONG. It takes forever - and of course Baby T doesn't like to be in the car if it's standing still, so this is a challenge. I'm going to ask next week if I'm allowed to walk in and get him myself.
  • Not enough blood around here - Baby T has had a bit of blood in his diaper lately - so the DR wants to see him in a 1/2 an hour... gotta run. Getting very tired of doctors and blood!!!

    This Just In...

I am in LOVE. LOVE I tell you!

The Little Tripper Diaper Bag from Land's End! (In Red)

It just arrived and I totally adore it! I had the older Little Tripper from when my older son was born and it's still in perfect shape, but I lost the changing pad. To get a new pad was like $7 at BabiesRUs, and it was really bulky. For $19.50, I got a whole new fabulous bag!!!! I highly recommend them for trips up to 1 day (for example, we used it the whole day we were in DisneyWorld, it holds that much stuff!!).

    January 10, 2006

    January 09, 2006

    very busy...

taking care of two kids is SO MUCH WORK... hubby has been out of town since Thursday morning and I'm here alone since Saturday... and it is quite a lot of work! Feeding both kids, changing diapers, bathing both kids, entertaining the older son, feeding MYSELF, healing from Thursday, etc.

Man could I use a couple of hours all to myself! I cannot wait until hubby returns!

As a side note, I think Baby T is beginning to smile and I'll be darned if it doesn't melt me every time!! HE HAS DIMPLES!

    January 06, 2006

    Hmm...

So...where should I start??!! For the men and the non-baby interested readers, you may want to skip this one!

I had a post-partum d&c yesterday. Apparently I had retained placenta pieces, and it was irritating my uterus and was what caused our ER visit on DEC. 31 for severe hemmoraging (I thought I was dying) and apparently I was about to have another episode when I went back for my follow up visit yesterday (and to think I almost skipped that appointment).

Thank goodness our Aunt L and my Mom are available to help me out w/the boys! I don't know what I'd do otherwise!

    January 04, 2006

    So...what I got...

Saw infomercials for these products while feeding Baby T...

    White Light - Teeth Whitening

I also saw one for a band you wear around your stomach - and it makes you sweat where the band is, so you can lose inches in just hours! What an invention! I'm so sure that works! (HAHAHAHA) The commercial shows a couple just hanging out wearing the stomach bands and sweating while lounging around the house...I'll watch for the link at tonight's 4 a.m. feeding!

Baby T is doing well. He's getting up 2 times at night to eat then goes back to sleep. During the day we are starting to see more times of alertness. He loves to lay on the floor and look at some of his newborn toys. This really surprises me because my older son HATED when we didn't hold him. We couldn't put him down ANYWHERE, SERIOUSLY. We thought we trained him to be like that, but now I think it's inherent in his personality - as Baby T likes to be put down and left alone sometimes.

Here are my tips for the hospital stay (ok, I'm jumping around a bit here - if you're a guy or not interested in pregnancy info, feel free to skip this list!! )
  • FLIP FLOPS! You will want these for the first time you get out of bed to go to the bathroom and for showering at the hospital. IT IS MESSY and shoes you can wash are essential! And you don't want to go barefoot in there - every else that uses that room makes the same mess you do!
  • If you have a boy, and circumsize him, take extra vaseline tubes! You cannot buy these little tubes and it's so easy to use the tubes as opposed to the jars of vaseline!
  • Bring cardstock - you can ask the nurse for extra footprints when they are doing the baby's! (of course, I forgot my cardstock, but it was on the list!)
  • If you have a 2 level house, get an extra spray bottle for cleaning up after you use the bathroom. It is a pain to have to remember to keep bringing it up and down with you - and after giving birth you want to try and limit your stairs.
  • I like to eat on the way to the hospital! I know at Fairfax at least, you can't have anything except ice chips once you arrive.
  • Make sure to pee before you are 3 c.m. (at least at Fairfax) if your water has broken - once you have broken water and 3 c.m., they will not let you out of bed.
  • Bring reading material or movies! For the hours between the epidural and giving birth.
  • If you are not breast feeding, bring jog bras to put on immediately after giving birth. Bring at least one for each day (3 total probably).

Dang. I knew I'd forgot some bullet points by waiting so long to do my list...I'll keep thinking!

    The Birth Story...

    Ok...here we go!

About 10 p.m. Dec. 16 (Friday night) we were laying in bed and I was getting a searing pain across my hips - as if someone put a sword in my left hip and out through my right hip. Of course, I didn't feel this warranted waking up hubby or calling doctor (dummy!)... I just though maybe I pulled something with my ENORMOUS BELLY rolling over or something.

About 2 a.m., the pain woke me up again. I got up to pee and it was SO MUCH WORSE STANDING UP I walked to the bathroom doubled over. BUT these were so not contractions, so I continued to think I had just pulled something. Of course I laid back down and realized I hadn't felt the baby move (going to the bathroom usually woke him up). So I laid there for a few minutes... no movement... I started cursing myself for sending the damn doppler back, because I really could've used it then. Note that I still did not think of waking hubby or calling the doc. Doubled over, I walked downstairs for a huge glass of cold orange juice to wake the baby. FINALLY, I got a little movement and about 2:50 a.m. went back to lay down.

I must've fallen asleep even w/the searing pain becuase POP!!! At 3 a.m. I felt my water break and lept out of bed (this must've been quite a sight at my size and with my coordination! But I saved our wonderful mattress! Not a drop! Could I use any more exclaimation points??!!) and RAN to the bathroom (we have off-white carpets!)... I yelled for Eric as I couldn't leave my spot in the bathroom w/out making a mess to start bringing me things.

    * Please note here: because the DR had told me 12 hours earlier I was not having this baby any time soon hubby had dosed himself up on super-duper cold medicine!

So he's running around finishing packing my bag, bringing me things, putting sheets on the guest bed and I'm running from the toilet to the shower - no way am I going into L&D stinky!

My brother arrives at about 3:30 a.m. and we give him instructions on what to do with Son while we're gone and we get into hubby's car (note that this is his NEW car, which he adores almost as much as he adores me!). Lots of towels are spread around...

The contractions get pretty strong on the ride over... I tell hubby to PLEASE drive smoothly as driving over bumps while having a contraction HURTS LIKE HELL. I ask him a couple times if I hurt this much w/our first son, as I didn't think anything had hurt quite like these contractions and he continues to laugh at me.

We arrive at the hospital at 4 a.m. and are sent to the L&D triage. We are the ONLY people in the triage at the hospital which is nice (it's a big room w/curtains so you can hear EVERYTHING). The contractions are quite painful, as we can tell from the monitors (as if I couldn't feel them!)

The nurse asks me all the questions and if I'm SURE my water broke. "OH, I'm SURE" I tell her. She gets out the test stick and checks (this hurt WORSE THAN THE CONTRACTIONS, I don't know why) and exclaims that yes! My water has broken! Then she checks me - 3 cm! Progress! Of course, with the pain I was in, I was sure I was at least 6!

About 5:30 a.m. (why they are so slow at all this when I AM THE ONLY WOMAN AROUND I am not sure) I get wheeled to my delivery room. So there are like 6 nurses setting stuff up in my room and getting me settled (this is nice! Lots of attention, as they were just hanging out bored before I arrived!). They start the IV when I wasn't looking so it surprised me to be stabbed in the arm, but she did a good job.

I tell them I'm ready for the epidrual! Send him in! And the order is placed. They turn the IV on super fast to get the liquids in before he arrives which makes me COLD and a wonderful nurse brings HEATED BLANKETS to warm me up! An angel! I tell them I want to pee before the epidural guy comes and they say No. After you are 3 c.m. w/broken water, they don't let you out of bed. Damn.

The epidural guy arrives around 6:15 a.m. Sitting still for the epidural wasn't has hard as I remember it being. Though I did squeeze the hell out of hubby's hand. The first numbing pinch shot was the worst of it. He said I'd probably feel 2 more contractions before the meds kicked in - he was WRONG! It took effect right away and I watched the next contraction on the monitor w/out pain! I could feel the tightening of my uterus, BUT NO PAIN! WONDER OF WONDERS! Then they checked me and said I was between 5 and 6 c.m.

Then, hubby and I settled in for some sleep! Man were we tired! Last time, my labor was 13 hours from start to end, so we were not worried at all, just ready for some Z's.

About 8:30 I told the nurse I was pretty sure I had to pee. She said she'd like to check me before, because sometimes any activity down there can speed things up. She also said they were going to start me on pitocin since my contractions were 180 seconds long - they like to see nice 60 second mountain ones, not 180 second ones. Thank GOD I had an epidural, as I'm sure 180 second contractions would've killed me. Seriously. She checked me and made a face. ???

You're ready, she said. WHAT? You're ready and your doctor doesn't get here until 9, she said, so just wait. WAIT? I'm sorry, WHAT? She told me if the urge to push was so strong I couldn't ignore it, let her know, but otherwise, just wait. And don't push.

Great. So I start feeling, of course, like I really need to push. I can see it coming, thank goodness on the monitor, the urge to push starts w/each contraction. Let me tell you - having the urge to push, but not pushing, is just as excrutiating as contractions with no epidural. That is damn hard and takes a lot of energy and focus.

At 9 the DR that I had seen Friday morning (who promised I was no where near labor and would have an 8 pd. baby) came in. He said the baby was still a little high so let's have another couple of contractions to bring the baby down to save me some pushing. He said he'd be back.

At 9:45 a.m. he came back in to check me and the look on his face said everything - the baby was already almost out! On his own! You've never seen medical people run like when the DR gives the order! At about 9:50 I started pushing - unlike w/my son, I could feel everything. EVERYTHING. It just didn't hurt. It was a very strange sensation. I mentioned it to the DR between contractions. He said I had the perfect epidural then, because it's easier to push when you can feel the baby and your muscles. I don't know - I don't think I wanted to feel all that. I know from having my son I can push w/out all that feeling (he was 20 minutes of pushing) - I still don't think I needed quite all those sensations.

BUT - anyway! The pushing! I'm pushing with the second contraction. I have the DR, hubby, and 4 nurses all aound me. All of a sudden I hear hubby... "I'm sorry, I have to sit down..." and BOOM. He hits the floor. YIKES!

Then - ALL THE NURSES run over to him and the DR stops whatever it was he's doing to face that way. UM hello? Yes, I'm worried about him too, but I've got a BABY COMING RIGHT NOW AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO CATCH IT... Finally 2 nurses tend to him and 2 to me. For the third contraction, I push holding my own darn right leg. We think it was a mix of cold medicine/no food/excitement/anxiety that did it, as he didn't pass out w/our first son.

Then, Baby T is here. Screaming away instantly. The DR says "wow, that's a big one!". Hubby walks over and says yeah, he's big. I look at him - he doesn't look so big to me, then they put him on my chest. Wow. He IS big. But he's also the most adorable little guy that I've worked so hard to bring into our lives for almost exactly 3 years now. I am overwhelmed with love and gratitude that we've made it to the point of having and holding a live baby!

More in the next installment! Including! Plastic flip flops! Babies that eat NOTHING and VOMIT a lot! Much fun!

    Almost 4!

Happy Birthday to my Son, who will be 4 years old tomorrow! At 5:30 p.m. to be exact! I can't believe how the time has flown or how my little baby has grown into such a wonderful little boy... he amazes me all the time and is the reason I wanted another so badly - with the love I feel for him and get from him, how could I not want more more more??!!

    Happy Birthday little one!

    Growing so fast...

As of Saturday, we are officially out of Newborn size clothes (which is a shame, because we only got to wear like 20 of the gazillion newborn outfits we have, since we only had 5 days since we got home from the hospital) and Newborn size diapers (good thing I only bought a small amount of those!)...

Big Brother got to hold Baby T for the first time last night! He loved it- I forgot to ask - would anyone like baby pics??!! :-)

    What I did yesterday....

    * I realize I forgot to include diaper changes! There was 1 right before EVERY feeding and a few interspersed throughout the day!

  • 12:45 a.m. - Baby T requests his feeding
  • 1:00 a.m. - after much debating, give Baby T 2 more ounces than usual because he is demanding it. Bringing the total for this feeding to 4 oz. Commence worrying that he's going to choke on spitup in his sleep.
  • 1:15 a.m. (or so) - Baby T and I sleep in chair in living room.
  • 2:15 a.m. - I wake up and put Baby T in crib.
  • 4 a.m. - realize it's time for Baby T's feeding - goto his room to find him sound asleep, almost rolled over??!! Commence worrying that he'll suffocate himself sleeping on belly. Return to bed.
  • 5:30 a.m. - Baby T requests feeding. Just a hair over 2 ounces. Fall asleep in chair w/Baby T on my chest again (this is quite a wonderful snuggly position).
  • 7:45 a.m. - Son wakes up and requests that we start drawing Christmas pictures that I promised last night.
  • 8:30 a.m. - make Son pancakes and sausage for breakfast. Substitute pancakes for whole wheat bread slice when he declares my pancakes not as good as Grammy's. Clean bottles, start laundry, play with Son.
  • 9:40 a.m. - Baby T wants more food. Just over 2 oz.
  • 10:30 a.m. - Baby T wants more food. Just over 1 oz.
  • 11 a.m. - put Baby T in crib for nap, give Son a bath.
  • 12 p.m. - do breakfast dishes, was bottles, and start bottle sterilizer.
  • 12:30 p.m. - make lunch for me and Son.
  • 12:45 p.m. - feed Baby T 1 oz.
  • 1 p.m. - clean up from lunch and play with son
  • 3 p.m. - send Son to neighbors house for Christmas party.
  • 3:30 p.m. - feed Baby T 2 oz.
  • 4 p.m. - hold Baby T.
  • 4:30 p.m. - wash and sterilize bottles, clean kitchen.
  • 5 p.m. - SHOWER!
  • 5:45 p.m. - in-laws arrive with presents and we order pizza.
  • 6 p.m. - feed Baby T 2 oz.
  • 6:30 - Baby T fools us into thinking he's hungry again, he eats 0 oz.
  • 7 p.m. - Baby T has HUGE spit up all over Dad, requires cleaning of both parties.
  • 8 p.m. - In laws leave.
  • 8:15 p.m. - Baby T eats 1 1/4 oz.
  • 9 p.m. - get Son ready for bed.
  • 10 p.m. - Feed Baby T 2 1/4 oz.
  • 10:30 p.m. - sponge bath for Baby T.
  • 11 p.m. feed Baby T 1 oz.
  • 12 a.m. - Mom & Dad off to bed!!!!!

( please note: Dad is HUGE HELPER - this does not include all the things HE DID yesterday like feeding Baby T, cleaning up, changing diapers, playing with Son, etc.)

    Please don't

Please don't call me for the express purpose of telling me how TIRED you are or how much stuff you have to do... I really have NO sympathy for you if you at least had the opportunity to sleep all night and not have to watch a 6 day old and a 4 year old all day today. Honestly!

    Please don't

Please don't call me for the express purpose of telling me how TIRED you are or how much stuff you have to do... I really have NO sympathy for you if you at least had the opportunity to sleep all night and not have to watch a 6 day old and a 4 year old all day today. Honestly!

    Thank you very much

Baby T! For sleeping from 1:15 a.m. last night until 5:30 a.m. this morning! Mommy REALLY REALLY apapreciates it!

    December 21, 2005

    Wednesday!

I just got up from a glorious 2 hour nap! Our system is such - I do the nights and hubby does mornings and daytimes that I want a nap...so a 2 hour midday nap is JUST what I needed!

I was running around just now like a MAD WOMAN because my in-laws are coming this evening and the house is a STY!!! Then my uterus starting hurting and I got hot - so I sat down to rest and oops! the laptop is right there calling my name!

We had son's Christmas show today - and it was glorious! You've never seen a show until you've watched your preschooler sing Christmas songs in a preschool show. Fabulous and I couldn't have been more proud of my little man. There was 1 4 year old who had TWO piano recitals during the show, with no sheet music. Seriously. I was quite impressed to say the least.

Baby T is at his first DRs appt right now w/hubby - I hope it goes well.

I'm feeling more and more human with every day. Today when I got dressed in my work clothes for the show, I put on a pair of pants I bought in October. Humph! They were full belly pants! I had no idea as by the time I bought them, it was impossible to even get them 1/2 way up the bottom of my belly so for me they were very low rise. I thought I looked quite good for giving birth only 4 days ago! I did create the cone of protection around Baby T though, no one was getting their grubby hands in or on the car seat or baby but me and hubby.

AND the woman in the pew in front of us had a 3 week old (who, BTW, is not yet as heavy as my son!) and set her car seat carrier in the aisle. EVERY DAMN person that went up the aisle to snap a picture kicked it or walked into it. EVERY ONE. Finally, appalled, I had to suggest to her to set it on the pew in front of her (luckily the baby wasn't in it, which I didn't know and the people walking up the aisle certainly didn't know as she had the canopy up) and told her people kept kicking it. She was shocked (she hadn't seen it, was filming the show)...

I couldn't believe people in a CHURCH would be so careless!
#1 - it is not yours, don't kick it or walk into it, watch where you are going!
#2 - it is a device made for holding babies, which every damn person in that room knows, as they were each there to watch a child no older than 4 in the show - and everyone one of them had a carrier like that I'm sure. YOU SHOULD GO OUT OF YOUR WAY NOT TO KICK IT OR BUMP IT on your way by.

    What is wrong w/these people...

Anyway, son #1 just got up from his nap, gotta run!

    Tuesday Update

Baby T does not like crib. Mom also not using all of brainpower, as I spent 2 hours trying to get us comfy in our family room chair together last night, about 3:30 a.m.,only to realize the chair sits right in front of the PACK & PLAY, which he happily slept in all day. Duh, put him in pack and play and he was quite comfy. It is a godsend.

I'll work on the birth story - I'm going to publish a censored one here, and a TMI/helpful hints one for anyone that might want some helpful hints and/or fresh memories from day 0 and day 1 with a newborn and a new non-pregnant body!

Seriously guys, thank you very much for the emails!

    December 19, 2005

    A New Family Member!

Little son #2 arrived Saturday morning, at 10:02 a.m. weighing in at 9 pounds, 2 ounces! Surprising us with timing as well as size!!!

More later - just got home and tired! Thanks everyone for the emails! It's wonderful to know people are hoping we're ok!!

    Friday Evening Update...

    Nothing yet.

Discussing w/hubby induction options... If they induce Tuesday, I miss the Christmas show on Wednesday at Son's school. Also if they induce Wednesday, I ALSO miss the show. If they induce Thursday, since I'm Strep +, I won't be eligible to be released until Saturday evening, at the EARLIEST, more likely Sunday. Which means missing my Son's Surprise at seeing the Santa bounty :-(

So unless they can induce Monday night or Tuesday, I'll maybe just take my chances? What do you guys think??

    Dr. Appt.

    Surprise! NO CHANGE.

How this is possible is BEYOND me. I have another appt. Monday, where they want to discuss being induced... so I guess from here we just wait some more???!!

    December 15, 2005

    Evening Update...

    Nothing yet.

BUT - my joints are so loose today my right leg about pops out of the hip joint every 25 steps or so - and this is QUITE painful and a little scary.

AND it's a full moon tonight! I'll update again in the morn after my 9:15 a.m. DR appt and taking my son to ToysRUs to shop for presents from him to other people...

    And good night!

    Today's Driving Idiots...

What the HELL is wrong with people???

In our ride in today, the road in front of my neighborhood is 55 mph. We cruising along at least at 60 mph, when the woman in front of me decides the guy turning out of an office complex onto the road we're on should be let out. While this is a very nice gesture, going from 60 to 0, with no warning to the people behind you about WHAT you are doing or WHY you are doing it is CRAAAAAZZZEEE... Not to mention it'd be MY FAULT for rear-ending her (and totaling her Chevy Malibu w/my huge truck) AND I'd have to be rushed to the hospital, but have to wait for someone to come retrieve my son...oh the mess! So I hope she understood when I laid on the truck's horn and almost skidded into her, as the people behind me swerved for the ditches. Nice work lady.

THEN - we're taking a local shortcut thru an office park (still behind the same nutty lady) and she thinks I'm chasing her maybe because she's FLYING THRU it... anyway, a parking shuttle comes off the ramp to my right and apparently wants to turn left at the light, which is THREE LANES over...and just cruises across the lanes almost hitting me and the cars in the 2 lanes next to me. Nice.

Grrrr... AND because of the work they're doing in the garage, the only spaces available are ON TOP and we're getting ice today.... also, very nice. It'll be fun cleaning off my car and walking to it!!!!

    December 14, 2005

    GRRRR....

I just looked at our Amazon Recent Orders - hubby's been buying things for himself!!?? Doesn't he know that's MY JOB this time of year?? Good grief!

    Wednesday Morning Update...

No Baby Yet. Darn it all.

In other news... going for lunch for an hour walk around Tysons II. Hopefully that helps a bit - at the very least, I should be able to get some more shopping done. One would think that with all this shopping I'd be done by now, of course, one would be WRONG, but that's what one would think.

    So true...

Your Christmas is Most Like: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Christmas is a big, boisterous event at your place.

And no matter what, something hilarious usually happens.

Also - the Christmas tree we put up YESTERDAY has already fallen down once (just like last year!) (no, son was not involved, just Dad!)

    Check...

daily 1 hour of walking done at Tyson's during lunch - there better be a baby coming soon! That was A LOT of walking!

    Nothing yet...

    38 weeks tomorrow.

Honestly, I am STUNNED to the core. NO WAY had I thought I would be pregnant past 37 weeks or so. I don't know why, that's just the timeline I had in my head. So now I pretty much don't know what to do with myself.

I came downstairs today for work and hubby gave me an odd look - apparently my cute GAP sweater has been outgrown in the belly area. Great... now that's like 3 outfits I have left that fit.

Side note: the baby was really quiet yesterday... then when we went to bed about 11:30 he got all excited and awake and SERIOUSLY SQUIRMY until 2 a.m. Seriously, 2 a.m.? That has to be way past his bed time. I could feel him hitting down around my cervix, as if he was feeling for the exit (as cool as that sounds, at 2 a.m. it is not INTERESTING or COMFORTABLE). Also checking with his feet to see if there were any exits inside or outside of my ribcage.

But I try to remember - every day that he stays in, that's one day older and easier to take care of he will be. His older brother was SUCH an easy baby, I'm a little afraid of what we're in for - I hope he's just like his big brother in that department!

Why Pottery Barn Can Be A Pain In The Ass...

Remember Pottery Barn? The place where I ordered our nursery set? Although I had to order it from online, instead of in the store, because apparently "Pottery Barn Kids" the store and "Pottery Barn Kids" online are different entities - even though they do share some items and order from the same place? The same place that cancelled my order then had to next day air my shipment to me after I found out and had waited 2 weeks for it?

Well - I wanted curtains for the nursery. They had 3 in stock and ordered 1 for me from the distribution center. So a week later I get a note saying it'll arrive around 12/8/05. No problem. The next day, I get a letter saying it'll arrive 2/5/06?? Whatever. I'm irritated but not enough to call. If they're out of them, they're out and not much I can do about it (apparently I can be laid back once in a while).

SO TODAY ( 12/9/05 ) I get a box from Pottery Barn Kids...with a panel. And a bill for THREE panels, saying one more is on it's way "soon" and another is on back order and a receipt for a credit card charge for THREE PANELS.

    ???

I call their customer service and what the lady wants me to believe is that even though MY PRINTED RECEIPT says otherwise, they are only sending the 1, and only charged me $51.45. So I pull up my credit card statement online while I've got her and see they've charged me once on 11/30 and once on 12/7, but credited it back on 12/8. For some reason, she says, they always double charge it then refund one. WHAT? That doesn't make any sense.

I explain to her I do not appreciate random charges to my credit card, regardless of what they "usually" do. She says, but we only charged you once. I say, actually, NO, you charged me twice, but you did refund one, so the NET is $51.45, but you did charge twice, which I did not approve and do not approve and I'd better not see any more fiddle faddling w/my credit card. She says no, we charged you once. We go around about once vs. twice (she acknowledges that charges were made on 11/30/05 and 12/7/05, but since they also credited, it isn't actually a charge) before I HAD to hang up on her before my head exploded.

    Dr. Update...

1+ cm dilated and 70% effaced.

So I could have a baby today or anytime in the next 3 weeks. Thanks for the update Dr.

Something that occurred to me this morning...

I was getting ready for work and I thought - "What if I go into labor at work?"...

Not worrying about how I get to the hospital (Hubby works only minutes away, and my work is CLOSER to the hospital than our house) but WHAT ABOUT THE CAMERA? AND THE VIDEO RECORDER?

What if I was in labor and we didn't have those things?? I most definitely want pictures of my newborn! And of me with the newborn! And of hubby with the newborn, etc. What if they are at home while we're in the hospital?

Now I know Hubby's solution would be to run to Best Buy (right around the corner) and purchase a new state-of-the-art camera and recorder, but come on, we really don't need to drop that kind of money just because we are unprepared!

So this morning I packed the camera bag and slipped it into my truck, just in case.

    Um... well... yeah.... ok

I got nothing. Sitting here waiting to go into labor is pretty much taking up all of my brain power today. Every day I wake up and think "is it today? Is December 8 a good birthday?". This would be so much easier with a finite end date. And the shirt I have on today (which I did wear to work last week - I'm pretty well down to 4 outfits or so) is SO SMALL on me now. Must spend day hiding from people that know me.

Dr. appt. at 1:45 to be checked, let's hope for some progress!

    December 07, 2005

    And MORE Shopping!

I went to the mall at lunch to walk a bit (please baby please decide to come soon!) and get a Christmas present for my cousin.

I found the perfect item at Hechts, and while in line I realized I left my 20% coupon in the car, at the other end of the mall. I was seriously going to beg the clerk to give me the 20% off w/out the coupon and not walk to my car to get it, when the lady in front of me just offered me hers! Wonder of wonders! I couldn't say thank you enough!

The mall wasn't bad yet...but give it a week as shoppers start to make even getting NEAR the mall at lunchtime unbearable. Hopefully I'll be done with my shopping (and holding a new baby!) by then!

    A brighter day today!

Feeling much better today - we ALL went to bed early last night and I think we're all much better for it!

Nothing new to report - just a regular day, going shopping at lunch to try and get this Christmas present thing done!

ALSO! If you want to exchange real Christmas/Holiday cards, please send me an email, though be forewarned, we are waiting until after baby #2 arrives to take the picture and order cards! :-)

    December 06, 2005

Practice Time is OVER! (37 Weeks today)

Ok - listen here Mr. Uterus (or Ms. Uterus, if you prefer)...

2 weeks ago, when you were contracting every 3-4 minutes for 8 HOURS I was excited because I thought we were getting somewhere (pls. note, these hours were from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.). Then my DR said I was still 0 c.m. dialated.

These contractions continued on and off, though not so close together or at night, for another week. Again, DR said I was 0 c.m. dialated.

So, last night's fun and games, from 1 a.m. - 3 a.m. producing mild (but not-so mild I could sleep thru them) contractions every 6 minutes was just plain annoying. I get it - we've "practiced" enough.

Please only commence with contractions if it is the real deal. Thank you. (because now I am REALLY REALLY tired and quite cranky today. I'm generally so tired I need a nap anyway by about 1 p.m. and now I was ready for my nap by 8 a.m.)

    December 05, 2005

    Gloomy Monday...

It's gross here. Everyone just waiting for snow, or for lack of snow. Our forecasters are so bad, we never actually know what is going to happen until it's done.

It was a nice weekend, but got even better last night at 6:45 p.m. when hubby and son returned home! It was SO GOOD to see them again!!!!!! And to have my house hustling and bustling w/the sounds of a 4 year old!

I'll check back in later w/a weather report!

    December 02, 2005

    What on earth...

shall I do with myself? My husband and son have gone visiting relatives and left me here by myself until Sunday night... what does one DO with all that free time?? :-)

(please note: we WILL NOT be going into labor before Sunday night, when they return. Got it Mr. Uterus?)

    December 01, 2005

    No progress...

Just back from the OB's weekly check...( yes, it's nice to be checked, but MAN does it hurt )...

No progress, still 0 cm. dialated. So much for giving birth at 36 / 37 weeks.

Gained 1 pd. in a week. Which is right on target for this stage of pregnancy (the BABY should gain 1 pd. a week from here on out).

I got nothing else. I'm tired and large and feeling a bit cranky today.

    November 30, 2005

    Good news, good news!

Just got work from our neighbors that the yucky neighbors ( the ones that "planted" random shit in their yard, and mowed TWICE the entire year and tried to grow dead bamboo ) are moving!!!! Apparently she had a baby and now refuses to bring the baby home to that house - she's too lonely in our neighborhood. (of course, there are never less that 15 people and 5 cars at that house, so I don't know what she's talking about, lonely)

It would be nice for my son to have someone his age to play with, but I'd never have picked them anyway. Remember, they are the ones that would lean out their kitchen door (no deck yet), openly stare at us for a long length of time, and burp so loudly she scared the bejesus out of me, even with our large lot sizes.

Maybe we'll get some normal people?

    Today's Complaints...

Dear Linens & Things Manager - I expect to do returns at the return desk. Yes, I will glare at you with the stare of evil pregnant woman when you flippantly just tell me to get in a regular line and go sit back in the back room. Get off your lazy ass and give me my money back. (especially since I was waiting at the return desk, the regular lines went from 0 customers to 5 and now I will have to be #6 in line. Thanks.)

Dear XM Radio: Christmas music from Kelly Clarkson (or whoever sings "My Grown Up Christmas") doesn't count as Christmas music and don't play it on the 24 hour Christmas music channel. I expect to hear Frosty, Jingle Bells, Silent Night, and all the regular songs. Even if they are songs that aren't my favorite, fine, but make them REGULAR CHRISTMAS MUSIC DAMMIT. Even stupid new variations on old hits will do.

Dear Santa's Helpers at the Mall: it is no easy feat to get a four year old on Santa's lap (oh, how we LOVE Santa, but when actually FACED with Santa, it's a different story) AND SMILING. So, if I do manage this feat (with the boy in a nice Christmas sweater no less), and you lose the pics because you rebooted the computer AFTER you took the pic, don't be surprised when I give you a look. And don't continue to be surprised when you do this 2 more times, the looks get meaner and meaner. Good grief - how long CAN a 4 year old be expected to sit on some stranger's lap and smile?? Seriously.

And don't get me started on the COST of these pictures. Goodness! And of course, every relative is expecting his or her own 5x7.... because that's not pricey for me at all. In addition to all the school portrait 5X7s I just bought and handed around like candy. This kid thing is EXPENSIVE!

Dear Birthday Party Attendees: Please do not come to my party with the throwing-up kind of stomach virus. I really do appreciate that you WANT to see my son and see him open his presents, have cake, etc. I also think it's too cute to be missed. But to risk giving it to him or worse yet, ME is in-excusable. I've always been a bit more careful about bringing my son to visit people when he's even got a cold than I notice other parents are, but some sickesses you stay home for. Seriously. I know some people say, "let him get it now, then he'll be immune to it later!" but seriously, do you know how stupid that sounds when you say it? I'd much rather have a 6 or 7 year old w/a stomach virus than a 4 year old. People think it's no big deal to spread colds and things around... well, then, they can bring their butts over to my house at night-time to get up to sit w/the child that is awake because he can't breathe thru his nose, or can't sleep because he's coughing to much. At 9 months pregnant, it is more than I can handle and I will say something to you if I catch you bringing viruses into my house. My poor husband, every time he gets a "no big deal, it's just a cold" from someone, it turns into a sinus & respiratory infection. So much for "no big deal" huh? But people just seem oblivious and it really, really pisses me off.

I'm glad I was warned today about the stomach virus thing - I hope we go by unscathed. BUT since son and hubby are going to see PopPop this weekend (who is 94) I know to make damn sure they're as healthy as can be and not getting ready to have this virus before they go see him. Seriously, it could kill him. Then it would be a big deal, wouldn't it?

No, not really grumpy today, why do you ask? ;-)

    November 29, 2005

    36 Weeks!

Well... I have been at work long enough to set my stuff down and run downstairs (run, ha!) to the deli to get a bagel - and HAD 3 converstations about my belly.

"Girl - looks like you got a basketball, not a baby under there!"
"don't jump up and down or that baby's going to fall out!"
"when are you due, must be soon!"

So... yes, I am still getting MORE uncomfortable, though I didn't think I COULD get more uncomfortable.

For some reason, I cannot get around to packing our bag for the hospital. We keep talking about it, but I can't seem to DO IT. I have no idea why.

I'm hoping to get some belly shots today and nursery pics... any takers?

    November 28, 2005

    Why, hello there!!!

HI! How are you? I'm pretty good, but DAMN TIRED, if I do say so myself!

So where did I leave off? Ah yes, the night of no sleep. That was fun. And it set me up for being so damn tired I couldn't see straight!

Wednesday schedule: hang out and clean house for more houseguests on Thanksgiving. Make first ever chocolate pie, from scratch. Pray that it tastes good when I realize you cannot taste test a pie before guests arrive to ensure that it's ok.

Thursday: more houseguests arrive right on schedule! Lovely Aunt L, and her portable Thanksgiving dinner in a van arrive! That's right - our guests brought THE ENTIRE DINNER WITH THEM! What wonderful guests! Finish up first PUMPKIN PIE I've ever made, from scratch and also fret that the pie cannot be taste-tested before hand! Yikes!

Make mac&cheese (from scratch!) for dinner at my family's house ( the noon dinner ) and get son over there so we can eat w/them at noon.

Head back to my house to prep for evening meal with Hubby's aunt and mom. It was a GREAT meal! AND the pies were perfect, I might add!

Friday: trip to Kohl's as their after-Thanskgiving toy sale is unmatched! I find toys for all the under 3 children in our family at 50% off! Thanks to Aunt L and cousin R for helping me shop!! It is SO MUCH appreciated!

Prepare for Son's Fourth Birthday party, which is scheduled for Saturday at 2 (we had the party early to prevent baby brother from making his grand appearance on the day of the party, ruining it for son). THANK GOODNESS Aunt L & Family are still around - no way could I have done all that myself.

Saturday: party day! Party was a blast - everyone seemed to have a great time and there were just enough kids there, not too many and not too few.

By 7 p.m., we had our house back to ourselves. We spent some quality time just playing with our son alone then went RIGHT TO BED.

Sunday was GREAT! We got up, had breakfast, and I took a 2 hour nap on the couch watching hubby and son put together toys. Then lunch and son asked if it was time for his nap yet. WHAT? Why, of course it is! Off to bed we all go for "family nap time" and it was WONDERFUL!

How was your holiday? I could not have asked for more. We got to see everyone we love over the span of a couple of days and share a wonderful holiday and a celebration of son's birthday with them!

    35W1D = False Labor #1

  • 2:00 a.m. - lower back pain wakes me
  • 2:30 - contractions start
  • 2:34 - next contraction
  • 2:37 - next contraction

They continue at 3-4 minute intervals for 30-40 seconds each.

  • 3:30 - call DR (guideline is 5 minutes apart for 60 seconds). He says they are not intense enough yet. When they get to 60 seconds and I cannot breathe through them, come into hospital.
  • 3:30 - 7:30 contractions 3 minutes apart, 60 seconds. Same intensity as before.
  • 10:20 - arrive LATE for regularly scheduled DR appt. Find out have gained NO weight in last month! Yahoo! Also - 50% effaced, 0 cm dialted. Baby dropped all the way down by this time and DR can feel him.

Diagnosis: false labor, go home, do not pass go.

    35 Weeks!!!

Well here I am, 35 weeks! And today, my mother looked at me in my work clothes and said "VHM, really, you should buy shirts that are long enough to cover that belly!". Yeah, ok, they're short because I bought the wrong size, NOT BECAUSE I'M FREAKING HUGE. But thanks for the reminder that if I don't hold down the front of my shirt, I'm showing everyone my new outie belly button! It's a great look, I promise!

Today, my MIL arrives from FL to celebrate Thanksgiving. My aunt and family (technically, hubby's aunt and family, but I love them like my own) arrive Thursday, with most of the holiday dinner in their van (aren't they GREAT??!!) - and are going to cook the evening dinner while I have a big Thanksgiving lunch with my family. Once again, aren't they GREAT?

The window treatments in the family room and breakfast room and kitchen were installed yesterday and they look great! So the house is in order for a perfect holiday!

(BTW, the nursery is DONE! If anyone would like a pic, let me know, and after my company leaves (there is a spare bed on the floor), I'll send one!)

And now, I need to do more shopping.

After ironing for 10 minutes today, I find out I've outgrown 2 more shirts. At this rate, I'm going to work topless very soon (like the end of next week). Luckily, I found a great sweater I got at the Gap last pregnancy that not only fits, hubby said it was "slimming"! Yay! Must go around today and make sure every sees me in my slimming outfit!

Side Advice: ORDER DIAPERS FROM AMAZON! They are slightly cheaper than you get in the store, they sell CASES, and they DELIVER FOR FREE! No more running to the store simply to buy diapers! I am in love!

    And yet more shopping!

Well - PBKids had 3 of the 4 84 inch panels that I needed. Oh well, 3 will have to do for now.

Saw a funny thing in the parking garage. An Asian woman was trying to unlock a gold Toyota Highlander. She was having trouble - then noticed that the lights were blinking on the Lexus equivalant across the aisle, 5 cars down. Apparently THAT one was her car. It was also SILVER. Glad to know she's driving around in traffic w/me and my son.

    Shopping shopping and more shopping...

Apparently I do love to shop!

Here are the dinos we bought for Baby #2 this weekend:

    Dinosaurs!

    Bought this at Nordstrom yesterday:

Nordstrom - how much do I love thee? When I was at Nordstrom, buying the dinos (I also bought the brontosaurus), the lady offered to carry them to the car for me! YAY! But right away she noticed the PBKids bag I had looked heavy ( 2 curtain rods, 4 fabric panels ) and INSISTED that I carry the stuffed animals and she carry the heavy bag! Yay for helpful people!!!

AND...proof you should measure before you buy! I purchased 4 63" panels for baby's windows...apparently his windows are 65" tall - so back to the mall I go!

Made it thru the full moon

Whew. That was a close one. When I was pregnant with my first child, for the last 2 full moons before my due date, I went into preterm labor and had to goto the hospital. Of course, quite scary.

I hadn't thought about it much until a couple of days ago when I saw somewhere that yesterday was ALSO a full moon. Thankfully, no pre-term labor! Yay!

Today - I am 34 weeks. Almost NONE of my maternity shirts cover my belly. None of the full-panel pants cover my belly (or are comfortable). I am a sight to see, I'm sure. I'm going today to Pottery Barn kids to get the window treatments for the baby's room then we just wait for the final decorations to arrive and VOILA the nursery will be done! YAY!

Now I just have to prepare the house for a housefull of guests for Thanksgiving and we're all set to go!

    Conversations with Morons.

I need to order humidifier replacement parts for my mom's humidifier. Because it's fun to be me sometimes.

So I goto the Holmes Website, where the shopping cart doesn't work if you're using Firefox, by the way. Which is my first clue these people are going to be a pain to deal with.

So I open IE. Navigate to the page which tells you which filters go with which humidifiers.

Cool - I see that 1 filter is 18.99, but 2 should be 29.99. Excellent. I click on the link for HWF80 (one link to order either the 1 pack or 2 pack, suspicious).

It shows the quantity as 1. Hmm. I want 2 for 29.99. I update the quantity (which is where it dies if you use Firefox, BTW). It works - 2 for $37 and change. What?

I send them an email inquiring how I get the deal of 2 for 29.99.

    I never hear from them.

I call the customer service number.

She informs me they are sold out of the 2 pack, as indicated by the fact that "29.99" is in red. oh. I thought that was to highlight the bargain price if you buy 2. No where on the page does it indicate that red text = sold out. Actually, at the top, IN RED NO LESS, it says, "Buy bargain packs & save more!". Apparently their usability people SUCK. They took a general usability standard (prices in red tend to indicate specials/price cuts, etc.) and used it for something else, totally confusing the customer.

I only used their site to purchase the filters because I could find no one else to give my business to. Otherwise, I'd have happily given my money to someone else.

    Productive Weekend!

We finished painting the nusery and some finishing touches on Son's room, that we'd been putting off. It looks fabulous!

Hubby got all the furniture arranged in the nursery and guest rooms so all the right pieces are there. I hung up the few new clothes I got for baby #2. I ordered some "Super Saurus" stuff off ebay and a quilt hanger to hang his crib quilt on (everyone of course must buy a quilt for the crib, though you are never ever allowed to put it ON the actual baby, so weird).

Our family room and kitchen got painted!!! Well, they have a tad left to do today, but the rooms LOOK GREAT. Like actual grown-ups with good taste live there! And this gives me the oppourtunity for some good cleaning in those rooms before hubby moves all the furniture back into place!

Amd we went to the light store and bought drop lights to go over our island in the kitchen and viola! Decorated kitchen!

    So much progress!!!

BTW - cold is ALMOST GONE! Don't need meds anymore!!!
